I really need to type these more often because I've already forgotten things that happend several days ago.
Things are going well, in addition to being medically cleared to upgrade my visa, I had my first oral English class. It was SO fun! Things are so much more laid back when the point is just to talk- not just that- talk in ENGLISH!! Its like being transported thousands of miles away .. to a room of students who are trying to speak English. Actually, they are all pretty good. Some of them are extremely good. Better than a lot of the students who are majors in English (these are all minors). Plus, they are from much more diverse locations- Inner Mongolia, Heilongjiang by Russia, all over.
Yesterday I went to Hangzhou for my medical exam. They gave me a piece of paper with my picture and I needed to find like seven different rooms on the first and second floors of the hospital so they could probe me, sample my pee, x-ray me, and hook up clamps to awkward locations and do... I really don't know what they were looking for, but apparently its okay... Then we went to the famed West Lake which was quite pretty and I throw some pictures up soon.
So, those Taiwan sausages from last entry. Definitely make your pee smell like Taiwan sausage the next day. Boy from the street has English far too poor for me to ever be able to attempt to see him on purpose again. In fact, I had begun to think that for some genetic reason boys simply were not able to speak fluent English until my Oral English class last night. Some of the majors are alright too. Otherwise, tonight I like this China. I actually stood next to one of my students on the bus back from the new campus so I had someone to talk to on the ride. Its just makes things so much more comfortable to be able to recognize a familiar face, yeah? And the girl who I met my first day is coming over tomorrow to make me something for the autumn festival.
Now to learn how to teach English while desperately trying to learn Chinese...
